 1. High Fiber Food

Skip salads or anything that is high fiber such as flax seeds or kale. High fiber foods may cause bloating and cramping. Black beans have a very high fiber count and will slow down the digestive process, leaving you gassy!

Eggs are excellent post-workout food; but only if they’re hard-boiled or even raw. If you order eggs over-easy or sunny-side-up in most diners, chances are that they’ll be cooked in oil. The last thing you need after an exercise session is food drenched in saturated fat
So as much you love pizza, it’s best to avoid this greasy favorite post-workout. Just one slice topped with pepperoni or sausage can cancel out all your hard work.

Soda, in general, is no good for you. And it’s even worse if you’re trying to lose weight as it has a slowing effect on metabolism. In fact, any fructose-filled drink will be counterproductive to your efforts. Sugary drinks reduce the fat-burning effects of your workout and promote fat storage, no matter how high-intensity it was.

So no matter how thirsty you are after a workout, don’t be tempted to reach for a soda or sugary drink. Rehydrate and replenish your lost electrolytes with water.

Raw veggies are typically a great choice for anyone trying to stay healthy. However, what your body needs after a good workout is replenishment. You need protein, high-quality carbohydrates, and calories. Raw veggies aren’t exactly very filling and eating them after your workout won’t give you nearly enough nutrients or calories that your body demands after a high-intensity session at the gym or a run.

foods not to eat after workout5. Prune Juice

The last thing you need after a workout is a drink that, no matter how healthy it is, actually serves as a laxative. Regular exercise and a healthy diet already should keep you regular; you need a drink like prune juice to intensify what should already be functioning well. But do drink prune juice if you’re constipated.

Remember that while there are foods that you should avoid after a workout, the worst thing that you can do to your body is not eat anything. Your body needs to replenish and refuel. The right food will decrease muscle protein breakdown, restore glycogen stores, and enhance recovery. So make sure you eat the right protein, carbs, and good fats after your workout.
